How to Start an Online Store in Pakistan: A Beginner's Guide (2026)
By Muhammad Abdullah · September 9, 2026

Starting an online store in Pakistan is more realistic in 2026 than ever before. You do not need a warehouse, a big team, or a huge budget. What you need is a clear plan, the right platform, and a store that actually converts visitors into buyers. In this guide I walk through the exact steps I use when helping Pakistani clients launch their Shopify stores.
1. Choose what you want to sell
Pick a product you understand. This could be fashion, skincare, electronics, handmade goods, or even digital products. The biggest mistake I see is people choosing a product only because it looks profitable. If you do not understand the customer, you will not know how to write product descriptions, answer questions, or run ads.
2. Register your business
For a serious store, register as a sole proprietor or a private limited company with SECP. Open a business bank account so you can accept payments professionally. Many Pakistani payment gateways require a registered business and NTN, so doing this early saves you from payment problems later.
3. Pick your selling platform
For most Pakistanis, Shopify is the best long-term choice. It handles hosting, security, checkout, and scaling. You can also sell on Daraz, but you do not own the customer relationship there. A Shopify store gives you full control, better margins, and a brand you actually own.
4. Set up payments
Pakistani stores usually combine PayFast, JazzCash, EasyPaisa, and bank transfer for local customers. For international sales, use Stripe or PayPal where available. Make sure your checkout shows all options clearly — confusion at checkout is the biggest reason carts are abandoned.
5. Design for mobile first
More than 80% of Pakistani shoppers browse on mobile. Your store must load fast, have large tap targets, and make checkout possible with one hand. Avoid heavy animations, oversized images, and long forms. Test every page on a real phone, not just a laptop.
6. Build trust from day one
New stores have no reviews, so you must build trust in other ways: clear return policy, WhatsApp chat button, real product photos, and an About page that shows there is a real person behind the brand. Pakistani customers especially value human contact, so make WhatsApp or a phone number easy to find.
7. Start marketing before you launch
Do not wait until launch to start marketing. Build an Instagram or TikTok audience around your niche while you set up the store. Collect emails with a simple landing page. On launch day, you want a list of people ready to buy, not zero visitors.
The best time to start building your audience was three months ago. The second best time is today.
8. Launch, measure, and improve
After launch, watch your analytics. Where do people drop off? Which product gets the most views? Which traffic source converts? Use that data to improve. Most successful Pakistani stores I see did not get everything right on day one — they improved week by week.
If you want a Shopify expert to handle the design and setup for you, see my Shopify store design service. I build stores for Pakistani and international clients, and I can help you avoid the common mistakes that kill new stores.
